The article considers the issues of a phenomenon that is relevant in the modern digital world -
the phenomenon of a «virtual personality» created by a person for interaction in a virtual environment. The authors consider several conceptual foundations on which the virtual identification of a person is built. The main part of the article presents the results of an experimental study devoted to the study of psychological features of a virtual personality and the reasons for the need for established, creative people to self-realization in the process of virtual activity. The respondents were artists and poets who systematically published the products of their creativity on the Internet. The group of virtual personalities included 30 men and women aged 25-36 years. The control group also consisted of 30 people. For the study, there were used such methods aimed at studying individual psychological and personal characteristics, as Taylor’s anxiety level measurement method, Wasserman’s social frustration diagnostic method, rigidity measurement method, Eysenck’s method for diagnosing self-assessment of mental states, and method for diagnosing the degree of satisfaction of basic needs (Maslow test). The article presents an analysis of the data obtained, the conclusions of the study, and key issues for further experimental study of the “virtual personality”.
