Abstract

The article discusses the use of film therapy in working with addictions, including drug addiction
and co-dependency in adolescence. The article reveals the history of the development of the film therapy method, its specificity, and the nature of its conduct in a group. The purpose of this article is to provide a theoretical review of the sources on the application of this method in practice. Film therapy is a rather young branch of art therapy that needs to be scientifically substantiated and has a wide range of applications. It does not exist as a separate method, but it is an auxiliary method that interacts with such areas as transactional analysis, logotherapy,
psychodrama, and symbolic drama. An integral advantage of film therapy is a projective technology that has a motivating effect in working with the worldview. Film therapy is a fairly modern and affordable method used in counseling. It is aimed at changing the perception and formulation of a new objective assessment of reality by the client. Being a section of art therapy, film therapy is unusually similar to bibliotherapy. But this does not give it the right not to take its place in the system of using art in work with clients. The ability to avoid «censoring the mind» and the manifestation of defense mechanisms in the process of therapy contributes to a clear articulation of the client’s problems and a reflection of his complexes in understanding his own problems and difficulties faced by the client.
