Adapting of the Attitude Scale Towards Teaching Profession to Kazakh Language

Abstract

The aim of this study is the adaptation of the attitude scale towards teaching profession developed by Çetin (2006) to Kazakh language. The translation of the scale from the original into Kazakh was carried out by 13 doctoral students and researchers studying in Turkey, who are proficient in Turkish at levels C1 / B2.
There was used a traditional method of adapting the scale from original to foreign language to adapt the scale from Turkish to Kazakh language. As part of the study, a confirmatory factor analysis was performed on data from a total of 280 students. Exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis was performed on the data obtained from 280 students. As a result of exploratory factor analysis, it was observed that the scale has a two-factor structure. The Cronbach Alpha coefficient of the scale is 0.91. Conformity values of the model as a result of the
confirming factor analysis RMSEA=.068; χ2/df=2.3; SRMR=.067; NFI=.94; NNFI=.96; IFI=.97; CFI=.97; RFI=93; GFI=.85; AGFI=.82. As a result of the study, a valid and reliable scale consisting of 25 items with 2 factors can be used to determine the attitude of future professionals to the teaching profession.
It is expected that the Kazakh-language version of the scale will be used to determine the attitudes of future teachers studying in Kazakhstan to their profession and to conduct comparative research with Turkey.
