Results of a study on the diagnostic potential of psychological transformational game

Abstract

The article considers diagnostic capabilities of the psychological transformation game and a comparative study of the transformational game with other psychological methods, such as individual therapy, group therapy. The authors studied a psychological transformation game «Geisha» in order to obtain the results described in the article. The submitted data and cases were received within six months. The study involved 40 women who took part in the game. All women who participated in games continued their participation in the
study, in individual coaching once a week. As this article focuses on the diagnostic potential of the game, the cases have been indicated only during the diagnostic phase, i.e. during the game itself. Subsequent research data formed the basis of a master’s thesis devoted to such two methods as transformative play as a diagnostic method and coaching as individual work with the client. Cases presented in the article have been analyzed to Berne’s transactional analysis. Results of the study demonstrate a diagnostic resource in relation to the study
of the underlying layers of personality, which allows it to be classified as a projective technology of personality research and to be implemented as a method of idiographic approach.
