Abstract

This article is devoted to the problem of emotional intelligence of the translator as a factor of the
effectiveness of his work. A high level of emotional intelligence development is associated with managing your emotions, self-confidence and adequate self-esteem. Theoretical analysis has shown that the translation process is carried out not only on an intellectual, but also on an emotional level. We conducted an empirical study of the effectiveness of translators, including measuring the level of their emotional intelligence. The study involved translators of Channel 7 and translation agencies, as well as translation students. The sample consisted of 55
translators aged 20 to 34 years.
The following methods were used to identify the relationship between emotional competence and the effectiveness of translators’ work: «Emotional intelligence test with self-report» by Nicola Schutte, adapted by A.Y. Varitsky, «Questionnaire of individual labor productivity», developed by Linda Koopman. To establish the relationship, the Pearson correlation coefficient was calculated. The results obtained allow us to conclude about the role of emotional intelligence as a factor of effective translation.
