Abstract

This article is devoted to the problem of developing professionally-oriented reading skills within didactic possibilities of distant learning. Distant learning is considered as an alternative form of education, allowing to provide an individual trajectory for students, based on using a wide range of information technologies and their technical means, which can provide delivering educational material, possibilities to study it independently, and organize communication between teachers and students. The author describes technologies for creating
an interactive training course for professionally oriented reading, methodology for developing professionally-oriented reading skills in the distant learning system, as well as the results of experimental training. The author defines the context of students’ future professional activity as an important condition for the effectiveness of distant learning. The author considers linguistic, pragmatic, and cognitive competencies as components of communicative competence in teaching professionally-oriented reading.
