Higher education and region – based culture

Abstract

The article discusses issues of interaction between higher education and region-based culture. There have been identified both role and importance of the region – based culture in the field of modern higher education. The author explains an essence of the concepts of region and region - based cuture and determines
their needs in the field of higher education. Regional culture is the concept of interaction with an environment that has a long history. Regional education serves as the basis for decision-making on the main aspects of everyday life and therefore it is an integral part of education. Regional culture is presented as a combination of experience in the use of resources, social interaction, and wisdom passed down from generation to generation in an unchanged form. The article presents an overview of the scientific works of foreign and domestic scholars
written around culture, region-based culture, and the prerequisites for the research topic. A survey was conducted with students of pedagogical specialties of higher educational institutions to determine the students’ altitude in the introduction of the region-based cultural materials in the process of learning English. The data obtained during the survey were processed and the results were discussed. Based on the results obtained during the study, the author made recommendations and developed concepts in the direction of using region-based
cultural materials in the educational process of higher educational institutions.
