The article is devoted to the description of the methodology for applying the results of associative experiments in the classroom of the Russian language as the most effective approaches to the formation of linguocultural competence of students who master Russian as a non-native language through the system of
basic values. The methodology proposed by the authors is based on a wide range of modern linguodidactic and psycholinguistic studies of linguistic consciousness and the formation of value priorities (basic values) among the modern youth of sovereign Kazakhstan. Language teaching is a linguodidactic problem, which is
studied considering the principles of pedagogical competence, which, in turn, determines the search for didactic conditions and ways of developing linguocultural competence. Objectifying the idea of the effectiveness and
necessity of considering and using associative materials in teaching language as a linguocultural phenomenon and a carrier of the archetypes of the linguistic consciousness of an ethnos, the authors turn to the texts of works of art. The authors propose the use of materials of associative research and associative dictionaries for didactic purposes in the learning process.
