The narrative of Soviet Industrialization in the context for the construction of political discourses: museum commemoration (cases of the Karaganda museum of heritage and Karlag)

Abstract

The article presents the results of a study of regional museums of Soviet industrial Kazakhstan as
a medium for the articulation of the Soviet industrialization narrative.
The scientific and applied significance of the work lies in the creation of a toolkit that considers the issues of studying ideological discourses in the context of their representation in museum narratives that have contributed both political and moral institutions to the construction of “memories of the past”, analysis of the subjective aspect of the process of constructing political discourses.
The article highlights the experience of conceptualizing the institutional Soviet political discourse through the articulation of the «meanings» of Soviet industrialization, broadcast in memorial memory in Kazakhstani regional museums. The study may be of interest to specialists in the growing field of memory research and the postcolonial paradigm.
