Integrating folk traditions in contemporary higher education in Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan

Abstract

In modern education, many traditions and customs retain their educational significance, their regulatory function and continue to be inherited from generation to generation. We are talking about folk traditions and customs that serve as pedagogical means in the education of young people. The article analyzes
the theoretical foundations of research on the use of traditions and customs in the education of young people, reveals the pedagogical conditions that are necessary for the education of modern students by means of folk pedagogy. The authors are of the opinion that the appeal to folk traditions and customs is one of the important ways to enrich the modern organized process of education, which involves a scientifically based selection and use of traditional forms and methods of education in order to improve the level of all pedagogical work of the
university. The results of a survey of students are presented in order to identify their attitude to folk traditions and customs. The authors have identified some pedagogical conditions, the observance of which determines the upbringing and formation of a full-fledged personality of modern students. The results of an experiment to identify pedagogical conditions for the use of folk traditions and customs in the education of university students are also analyzed. After analyzing the block of subjects of social and humanitarian disciplines, it was revealed that they can reveal topics on folk traditions and customs in their content, and a special course «Ethnopedagogy» was developed in Kyrgyzstan.
