The problem of extremism is considered one of the key threats to the security of modern Kazakhstan. The reason for this is the spread of cases of radicalization of citizens on the basis of jihadist ideology, which led to illegal actions both inside and outside the country. Since 2011, as a result of violent acts around the country, about 100 people were killed and more than 500 Kazakhstanis, according to official data, went to the territory of Syria and Iraq.
These problems have stimulated the mobilization by the state of its administrative, information and financial resources. A number of legislative innovations have been adopted, which have laid a new political and legal basis for
countering violent extremism.
