Abstract

The article deals with the problems of modernization of national self-consciousness through the social education of students as an important pedagogical problem. The goal of education and training as a single process is considered from the point of view of professional and general educational tasks facing the university. The importance of including national and interethnic features in the tasks of university education is determined by the complex and currently relevant problem of interethnic relations in the globalized world of education.

It is argued that educational institutions should be the leading means of the national-cultural revival of society; the educational process should be aimed at shaping the best qualities of the national character, raising the level of national self-awareness of the individual. Social education has the most important resource for the formation of national consciousness, a feature of which is the possibility of including a person in the system of social relations and the formation of not only an active life position, but also social responsibility. The article analyzes methodological approaches to the modernization of students’ national consciousness. The main aspects of its formation are given. At the same time, education and upbringing occupy a special place in the formation of national consciousness.
