Environmental problems currently affect all spheres of human activity, so the school should introduce students warning about possible environmental hazards. An urgent problem is the need to introduce environmental education and the formation of environmental culture of students. The article discusses the features of the organization of environmental education in the framework of the subject «Mathematics». The goal is to develop teaching methods linking mathematics and ecology. Along with the ecological education of students, the main directions influencing the development of ecological culture are determined. The content and tasks of text reports of environmental content are indicated. It is considered how text tasks of ecological content contribute to increasing students' interest in the subject, motivation to solve problems. In order to improve the ecological culture of students, examples of environmental content tasks are given. The skills that are formed in students by solving text tasks were outlined. In teaching mathematics, aimed at the formation of the ecological culture of students, the main forms of interaction between students and teachers are outlined. The main methods of mathematical ecology are shown. An idea was given about environmental monitoring, which is the main applied aspect of mathematics. Several proofs have shown that school mathematics is one of the main tools in the development of environmental competence.
