Abstract

 This article presents a review of foreign literature on effective supervision in the field
of social work. Nowadays, the role of qualified supervisors is important for effective organization and
management of social work. Initially supervision was developed by the countries of the USA and Western
Europe in the XX century. The article considers such basic issues as the formation and development of
social work supervision, the importance and influence of social work supervision in various spheres. In
the course of the research a number of problems in the field of modern social work supervision have been
identified. These include making changes and additions to the theory of supervision in social work taking
into account modern conditions; rethinking, defining the goals and objectives of supervision depending
on the specific focus of social work; considering a prospective supervision program and defining the
competencies of social workers. Proposals for contribution to the development of supervision in social
work were also presented. In this paper, the main object of research is supervision in social work.
