Abstract

This study is part of a scientific project to modernize anti-corruption policy in the context of improving the quality of life. The influence of the standard of living on the state of corruption is considered. Studying previous studies of this issue, we assume that low living standards are a trigger mechanism for everyday corruption that helps citizens in obtaining the necessary benefits, their timeliness and completeness. Based on a sociological survey conducted by the TALAP Center for Applied Research in 2021 among citizens of the Republic of Kazakhstan, we conduct an empirical analysis of the relationship between the level of perceived corruption and the assessment of the quality of services in the areas of education, healthcare, public services for business and the population. Despite the ambiguity of the results of the sociological survey, the study contributes to the study of the issue in order to better understand the causes of corruption on the example of the Republic of Kazakhstan. In conclusion, we make recommendations for improving the anti-corruption policy in the context of improving the quality of life.
