This article is devoted to the study of the theoretical foundations of the motivation of schoolchildren to enter specialized schools. Special attention is paid to the analysis of the phenomenon of «development of professional motivation», which is fundamental in improving the quality of education for the purpose of self-determination of the future profession. Professional motivation contributes to the full development of educational material, stimulates interest in the educational and cognitive activities of students. The article also examines the areas of research on the development of motivation to enter specialized schools, analyzes the competencies of the subjects studied in the real world, in other words, how they are applicable to professions. The authors show the main methods and forms of organization of pre-profile and profile training of students in the educational process, highlight the directions of improving their professional self-determination. Analyzing the reasons for students’ choice of a particular professional field of the next stage of education, the authors concluded: the individual system of values regulates the motives, plans, and goals (including educational) of the individual. At the same time, the most effective strategy for the development of motivation in students is the transition of the learning process from a direct, teacher-oriented, to an indirect one, in which the teacher is only an assistant in individual development. The article describes the role of schools, parents and teachers who implement training programs in the implementation of psychological and pedagogical support of graduates at the stage of professional self-determination. An analysis of the results obtained by the authors of the article suggests that the systemic psychological and pedagogical support of a teenager at the stage of professional self-determination will allow avoiding anxiety and anxiety, erroneous actions and future disappointments. This article is theoretical in nature, but in the learning process, you can use its material to improve the preparation of students in specialized schools.
