Native language in system of trilingual education: development of schoolchildren’s educational and cognitiveinterest

Abstract

The article deals with the issue of development of educational and cognitive interest of pupils to their native language in the conditions of trilingual education in the modern stage of transition of the school to the updated content of education. The experience of trilingual teaching of secondary schools with the Uzbek language of study in the aspect of the development of educational and cognitive interest of learners is analyzed. The most productive approaches and solutions aimed at the development of educational and cognitive interest of
schoolchildren are identified. It is noted that a certain part of teachers and parents have a conservative view regarding the opportunities of trilingual education in the development of their native language. On the contrary, an innovative approach to the issue of the influence of trilingual education on the teaching and study of the native language is aimed at the creative search and use of the stimulating and motivating capabilities of the native language as an academic subject. The native language, according to traditional opinion, is the basis for learning other languages as a means of study. The authors are of the opinion that teaching state, Russian and English, in turn, opens up new opportunities for the development of learners’ interest in learning their native language. Based on the analysis of the innovative practice of teachers of the native language of general education schools, the authors identify methods and conditions for using the opportunities of trilingual education in developing pupils’ interest in learning their native language, criteria for the effectiveness of the pedagogical approaches and solutions used.
