Distance learning tools in teaching a foreign language and experience of their application in Karaganda Medical University

Abstract

The article reveals an actual topic on the tools for distance learning of a foreign
language. The main tools used by the foreign language teachers in the NC JSC «Karaganda Medical University» are described. The distance learning tools were divided into some categories according to their purpose: for online classes, for testing, for placing individual assignments for students’ individual work, for quick interaction with students individually and in a group, and for written examinations. Based on the experience of their application, the main advantages
and disadvantages of each of the presented tools are given. In order to identify satisfaction level of students with the distance learning tools the English teachers used and reveal difficulties the students had faced with during distance learning, the survey was carried out. Despite the fact that a great number of the respondents consider this format to be convenient, a number of problems
have been identified that can affect the quality of education.
