Modern psychological and pedagogical research in the field of professional development is aimed at the formation of a competent and successful personality of the future specialist. The rapidly changing changes in society require the researcher to update and modify the diagnostic tools, to improve forms and methods of work that establish new psychological and pedagogical patterns of research. In this scientific field, the problem of diagnosing and describing a «Self» concept of the personality of the future teacher-psychologist is of particular
interest. In this connection, the article examines the history of studying the «Self»concept and the process of forming the «Self» concept of students in the context of professional training as a psychologist - a pedagogical problem of higher education. Also, the article reveals features of studying the «Self» concept of students in the conditions of professional training and its research capabilities, classification of modifications and methods of interpretation, using the methodology of S. A. Budassi «Self-assessment of personality». The sample consisted of 237 students in «Pedagogy and Psychology», aged from 17 to 23 at Pavlodar Pedagogical University and Toraighyrov University, from different courses ofstudy. The subjects were divided into experimental and control
study groups. The results of mathematical and statistical processing were obtained using the SPSS Statistics 21 software. The results obtained allow us to conclude the availability and validity of this technique when studying the «Self» concept of a student in the conditions of professional training of higher education.
