The Republic of Kazakhstan is currently modernizing the education system. One of the directions of which is the transition to trilingual education (target languages). The CLIL technology - subject-linguistic integrated learning - is particularly recognized in the world for effective learning of target languages.
The article presents positive trends in the use of CLIL technology in the teaching of inorganic chemistry courses in higher education institutions in English. The CLIL technology was used in the laboratory classes of the «Inorganic Chemistry-2» course at the Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University. In order to determine the effectiveness of the integrated technology, there was conducted a pedagogical experiment. There were determined the subject knowledge and language skills of the students. Assignments given to students aim to explore the learning motivation of the course, assess satisfaction with the learning process, and give an overall assessment of the relevance of the course.
As a result of the pedagogical experiment, it can be concluded that learning using CLIL technology is important and helps students both in acquiring English and in gaining professional knowledge.
The article will be of interest to chemistry teachers teaching in English in higher and secondary schools.
