The main characteristics of a model of foreign research universities

Abstract

The article is devoted to the analysis of the main characteristics of a model of leading research foreign universities. The article examines the foreign experience of research universities, based on the analysis of scientific approaches of scientists, in particular the experience of US universities. The leading approach to the study of this problem is a systematic approach that allows considering the necessary relationships in the model of foreign research universities.
The article focuses on such characteristics of the model of a research foreign university as a combination of teaching, research, and academic freedom. The article considers the use of consolidated financing and peer review mechanisms as well as the interaction between entrepreneurship and science, student-centered approach, the practice of private financing of long-term university programs.
The author defines the main conditions for the application of foreign experience in the domestic system of university education. The main conditions for the application of foreign experience in the Kazakhstan higher education system are the development of new forms of education and science’s integration, strengthening the connection of Kazakhstan universities with production and business, effective management of the process of commercialization of research results in the universities, providing multiple sources of funding, developing and
approving the concept of intellectual property management at the university level, etc.
