The article reflects methodological approaches based on the theory of social gerontology (E. Stieglitz). It presents the methods and results of assessing Silver University students’ life quality indices. The risks in the functioning of life processes that affect the index of socio-psychological well-being and the conditions for maintaining the vital activity of people of silver age are revealed, and the essential characteristic of psychosocial factors affecting their viability is given. Also, the prerequisites for the further development and structural content of the organization of non-formal education for the elderly are determined, and the identified relationships (positive/negative) between the indices of the quality of life of the elderly are formulated.
